Finally something new to report of the BIG project. The complete interior, except functional parts like the steering wheel, dashboard and hand brake, has been already removed. And today we dismounted the engine – who needs a garage and a car lift anyway??? Due to serious storage problems, we had to put it back into the car.
Our adventure around the world started in September 2009. We traveled all through Asia, Australia, North and Central America and arrived back home safely in March this year. During the summer we were with Herbie and the camper on a kind of Euro trip across Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Switzerland. We drove all together more than 75,000 miles (120.000 kilometers)…
Last week we installed flashers from the last beetle-type on Gregor’s 84er model. These have a position light function like US-cars! Remains to say: Till TÜV do us part!
Georgy, Christian and Domi drove to the SCS (Shopping Center South) where the last “Hot Summer Nite” of this year took place. Also some air-cooled vehicles where found by us.
Monday afternoon Domi and Flo started the trip to Vorarlberg in western Austria to buy a jubilee-bug for our mechanic Friedrich. We get there by Flo’s other car… On the way home we made a detour to “Performence Parts Austria” in Michaelbeuern near Salzburg. This bug burnt two liters of oil on 700 kilometers and we almost lost the exhaust! …but we arrived safely in Vienna.
