The start of the Motor Nights series for this year sadly took place during really poor weather. But nevertheless a few enthusiasts of the combustion engine made the trip to the new location near the famous Lusthaus. As always there was a wide range of cars at this all-brand meeting what makes it a monthly must-see.
It was the 29th meeting in Eggenburg which we visited with five beetles. The annual gathering on May 1st is always worth a visit and was our season opener for this year.
After the Motornights as we know it were banished from Korneuburg, this month’s gathering took a twist and was held in the Freudenau which is part of the 2nd district of Vienna. New location new problems, because at the same time next to it a golf and riding tournament took place and we all shared one parking lot. But all this didn’t stop the cars of all types and years taking part at this season finale. The new place obviously hasn’t…
The 15th of September marked the 6th Late Summer Ride hosted by DLV. Held at the parking lot on the Kahlenberg – the local mountain of Vienna – this event always attracts drivers from the City, Lower Austria and beyond. The main part is the common ride over the famous Höhenstraße, where we built up a convoy of about 60 vehicles. If you’re looking for a relaxed Saturday cruise at the end of summer, bring up your air-cooler and visit us…
Last Sunday we visited the biennial bug meeting in Fürstenfeld which took place in the area of the outdoor pool. More than 350 cars were counted, among them three Schwimmwagen. Here’s a small selection!
We had a great time at the second “Luftgekühlt am See” which was again top organised by the Käfer-Club Obergrafendorf. Among the 170 vehicles there could be spotted some very nice ones before chilling at the lake with a cold beer. What more could you ask for?
It’s time again! On the first friday every month from May to October the old shipyard in Korneuburg is the venue for the well-attended event “Motor Nights”. Get yourself an impression.
Today was the kick-off of the meeting season for us. With five bugs we travelled to the 27th international bug meeting in Eggenburg. Especially for Jan it was a very successful visit, who made the second place in the category special class with his 1600i “Open Air”.
The last of four entries shows the summer lawn where the bulk of the buses have parked. It’s always a fantastic experience at the VolksWorld Show – trip to Esher has fully paid off!
The grand stand area allowed the local clubs to present their cars in really nice weather this year.
Downstairs in the Esher hall there were some well-known cars which you have probably spotted on one or the other cover of a back issue.
In a group of eight we traveled to this years VolksWorld Show to the U.K.. This entry shows the vehicles in the Surrey Hall, one of four display areas at Sandown Park.
Yesterday we celebrated the end of the season at the monthly Motornights in Korneuburg.
Today was the 5th anniversary of our annual meeting. Despite having some difficulties and organisational problems in the planning process, we had a great day and time to catch up with our air-cooled friends. Allthough it was rather cold and windy, 40 rides made their way up to the Kahlenberg parking lot. Unfortunately we couldn’t provide an extensive catering this year, but we had hot coffee and sweet snacks. As a special treat we had a giveaway with beautiful air-cooled…
For the second time we traveled in a group of five bugs and nine people to the very famous bug show at the Circuit de Spa in Belgium. We were fascinated as much as last time when we saw all the nice rides of the air-cooled vehicle range of Volkswagen. Time passes quickly when there is so much to see and to do like watching the drag races, driving your bug over the 7km long track behind the pace car…
For the eleventh time the 1. Kärntner VW-Käferclub organised their biennial meeting for all air-cooled Volkswagen in Bodensdorf at the Ossiacher Lake, which we always look forward to. Our group of ten elephant feet tail lights featured some specials like a jubilee bug and the “Open Air” of our new member Jan. Benjamin mounted his new wheels and Christian brought his old Buggy back on the streets – still without roof and braving the weather. But luckily most of the…
This saturday we went to the Strudengauers’ meeting in Grein, which is always pleasant and matey, even though they hadn’t the weather on their side the last years. This time it meant to be better, as the temperature was up, sun was shining, no rain was in sight and a bunch of real nice pieces of old metal showed up. Around noon most of the participants got on the tour and we left as well. When we returned, we immediately realized there…
A small group of us (Flo, Domi, Jan and Benjamin) decided to pay the bug meeting in Stockerau a visit. On top of the nice weather, nice rides and friendly people all around, we can proudly call the first club-trophy ours!!! (for the third biggest Club at the site)
…the sound of italian one-cylinders, german flat-fours and american V8 engines comes over Korneuburg. They all meet at the old shipyard beside the danube – a great location for spending the first Friday evening every month.
…that’s the name of another monthly meeting in the place to meet – the old shipyard in Korneuburg near Vienna, where a crane and brick halls form the background for Old- and Youngtimer of all brands, US-cars, motorbikes and of course vintage VWs. Due to the huge squad of vehicles I decided to concentrate the pictures on the latter.
In a convoy of six beetles – year of construction from 1963 to 1996 – we hit the road to Eggenburg in Lower Austria. Every year on May 1 there takes place the biggest meeting of air-cooled Volkswagen in Austria. Although it is far from the size of the famous Maikäfertreffen in Hannover where we have been last year, we could also spot some nice rides. Watch out!
Today we celebrated the season start at the parking lot of the SCS. There was held the first of total six monthly meetings during the warmer time of the year hosted by Altblech. With five bugs we enhanced the manageable number of cars in front of the fast food restaurant and had a great time seeing all the familiar faces again.
Some of us used the additional Motornights event in the old shipyard in Korneuburg as a worthy season final.
The first time the VW beetles club of Obergrafendorf hosted their event called Luftgekühlt am See at the Ebersdorfer See in Lower Austria. Despite a short but heavy rain shower it was very well attended and we had a great time there. Let’s hope that they host this meeting once again next year.
About 70 cars came to the meeting located in the heart of lower Austrias wine cellar region. Domi held a presentation about Zainab’s and his world tour with Herbie. Check out their adventures on Herbie’s World Tour. Afterwards we made an excursion through the nice landscape to the Czech border.
So here are the missing rides of the show. Of course these pictures shows just a small part of the 3000 aircooled vehicles at the meeting. It was a great expirience for us to be there. Watch out for the next station of our trip through North Germany!
Once a year we’re travelling to one international VW show. This time we were at the annual Maikäfertreffen in Hannover. This entry shows the Buses, Type 3s, Kübelwagens, Fridolin and Porsche 914. Next time you’ll see the bugs, Karmann Ghias and Porsche 356.
This was our first time at the May Cruise Madness – the meeting before the meeting, which was hosted by DFL – Der fieser Luftkühlers. This was just the beginning of the trip – stay “slammed and fooshed” for more pictures of our adventure! To wrap it up here’s a video of this aircooled evening!
This Oldtimer-contest has been organized by Erster Oesterreichischer Kleinwagenclub for twenty years now, and has established itself as a traditional act to start of the Austrian Oldtimer season. The Wachau in the province of Lower Austria with its mountain Seiberer (near Weiszenkirchen on the Danube) offers the appropriate scenic environment. We had a great time being part of this event!
Yesterday we visited the first Altblech Friday Night Cruising of 2015. Stay tuned for the upcoming meetings!
The year is nearly over and we want to share our impressions of 2014. From the mania of Flo’s car purchases over our visit of the famous Le Bug Show in Belgium up to our third Late Summer Ride. Enjoy the pictures! With this we want to wish you all the best for the upcoming season!
On the occasion of the Fall of the Wall 25 years ago we met today to drive our two-stroke cars from the old GDR (German Democratic Republic) around Vienna’s city center. Due to the collapse of the GDR and the German reunification the era of East German cars ran out as well but there are still some folks driving them through town…
The oldtimer season is nearly over – so we took the opportunity to meet some folks with the same passion for vintage cars and visited the last Altblech Friday Night Cruising for this year. Despite the bleak weather we had a nice time catching up with old friends and getting to know new ones.
This Weekend our aircooled meeting the “Late Summer Ride” took place at the Kahlenberg for the third time. We are happy that so many participants enjoyed the conclusion of a great season with us. Therefore we want to say thank you. Besides we want to say thanks to the Ladies who managed our catering and on the other hand to the team of “Velothon Vienna” especially to Thorben and Konrad. Now see the pictures below and look forward to the season…
Last Weekend DLV took a great Journey to Spa, Belgium, where the ‘Le Bug Show’ takes place. This is the biggest Meeting where we have been so far and it was very impressive. With around 1500 participating cars there was so much to see and most of the cars you wouldn’t find here in Austria. Nearly all of them where lowered and rust seemed just like a standard. A big part of the Meeting was at the ‘Circuit de Spa’,…
with three bugs and of course Chris’ 1973 LEDL Buggy to be part of the anniversary!
Georgy, Christian, Flo and the ladys have been on this great show the whole weekend. It was – like every two years – a funny time with nice people! A big thanks to the “Käferclub-Kärnten” for the organisation and this great ride on Saturday! => click for full resolution! Also a big thanks to the “Kleine Zeitung” which has taken a photo of Flo, his bug and our domain! See all Photos here on their webside: www.kleinezeitung.at
At the “Volkswagen Beetle Show of Stockerau”, arranged by the KDKF Austria, Domi got the prize for the “dirtiest Bug” as Herbie’s engine compartment is still covered by the red mud of Africa – the award of course should rather honor Herbie’s World Tour. Georgy, Flo and Domi spent the entire Sunday together – first at the show and later on harvesting cherries at Flo’s place in his native town Gerasdorf, just outside of Vienna.
This weekend we took a ride to Grein by the Danube to visit the annual air-cooled Volkswagen show of “Käferfreunde Strudengau”. On our way we followed the Danube river upstream driving through the world famous Wachau Valley, a UNESCO world heritage site. Domi just returned home from his stay in the USA and at the show we met our friend and club mechanic Friedrich who owns a “little house” over there.
Yesterday Georgy, Matthias, Flo an their friend Felix joined the first US-Car Meeting in the South of Vienna. They noticed that the Austrian parking lots are way too small. Check out the pictures below.
…see you next year!
Yesterday Flo and Domi visited wine quarter’s “2nd Show for Vintage Cars” in Enzersfeld. Flo took his daily summer driver from 1966 and Domi his “Trabi” for the ride to the show. There we met our friends Kathi, Ilse and Peter who introduced us to their new car.
The days are getting warmer again and classic cars are waking up from their winter sleep. Yesterday we visited our first show this year. It’s called “Altblech Friday Night Cruising” in the South of Vienna. We showed up together friends of the legendary Trabant (“Trabantfreunde”). On September 20 we’re hosting the 3rd Late Summer Ride of Vienna!
After our trip to VolksWorld Show this year we decided to visit the phenomenal Le Bug Show on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2014! It will be our first time there and if you are also interested by traveling in convoy to this great event please contact us: firstname.lastname@example.org
DLV came together at the last Altblech FNC for this season with three members of our community. Once again there were a lot of cars to take a look at. But make yourself a picture!
Here are more pictures of this year’s “Late Summer Ride” taken by Domi from Herbie’s World Tour.
