Monday afternoon Domi and Flo started the trip to Vorarlberg in western Austria to buy a jubilee-bug for our mechanic Friedrich. We get there by Flo’s other car… On the way home we made a detour to “Performence Parts Austria” in Michaelbeuern near Salzburg. This bug burnt two liters of Read more…
On our way back to the South we had to change the inner front bearing on the left side. In a town called Rugby (where football/rugby was invented) we found we needed – a shop for air-cooled VW spare parts – Status VW.
Flo, Flow, Mario, Markus Gustl and Friends were on the Frequency Festival in Sankt Pölten, the capital of lower austria. It was a great event with great bands. Flo was even in the newspaper. 😉
Just when we drove into the city of Edinburgh (Scotland) the clutch cable broke. So we stopped at the next supermarket parking lot to replace it.

Quite chilly days we had here way up North in Norway and the other countries. And we thought the Scandinavians would be warm in summer. We’ve already driven more than 5000 kilometers on our trip across Europe.
On our way through Sweden we passed a little town called Ängelholm where a VW meeting took place.
At the end of may Christian went on a business trip to mexico, last weekend he came back to austria – with headlights, taillights … and especially sombreros, ponchos and tequila! At the same day we made a short trip to Angern a. d. March near the czech boarder.

Finally we got a ticket on one of the ships going from Tallinn (Estonia) to Helsinki. We were amazed how many vehicles could fit in such a “ferry”. After two hours on board we reached our destination: Finland.

Herbie No II is powered by a 1600i (injection) motor built in Mexico and installed by our dear friend and air-cooled Volkswagen enthusiast Meister Friedrich Hübsch. The only motor oil we use on our trips around the world – a fully synthetic 5w-50.
Mario, Markus, Flow and Gustl are on a camping trip at the dam lake in Völkermarkt.

Georgy und Flo haben bei der Hausentrümpelung in Georgy’s Block einige erhaltenswürdige Klappräder und auch ein schönes altes Kinderfahrrad entdeckt und gerettet. Sie warten jetzt vorläufig beim Flo am Dachboden auf eine Restaurierung.
Bei (wieder einmal) leicht verregneten Wetter besuchten wir mit zwei Fahrzeugen das jährliche Treffen des Käferclub Lengenfeld.

Um für den Europatrip optimal gerüstet zu sein bekam Domi’s Herbie ein Service an der Hinterachse. Bei der Gelegenheit hat der Friedrich auch den Motor von Flo’s Buggy eingestellt. Jetzt läuft und Bremst alles wieder gut.
